In response to the increasing demand for eye care from patients in the northwestern part of Tamilnadu, Aravind opened its third satellite hospital at Coimbatore in 1997. It is situated very close to the bordering states of both Kerala and Karnataka. The hospital serves a population of 25 million people across all three states.
