Rotary International has identified eye care as one of the top priority needs. Orange is an intiative by the Rotary International District 3232 to create an India free of avoidable blindness. Orange has been collaborating with Aravind Eye Hospital, Chennai and two new vision centres were opened in July. With the lockdown restrictions being lifted gradually, Aravind started catering to its usual number of cases, of course with all the COVID protocols in place. When the numbers were low, several centres planned activities to effectively utilise the downtime. These included exhibitions, role play, and healthcare sessions. All Aravind centres including Aurolab observed the 15th memorial day of its dear founder, Dr. G. Venkataswamy. Mr. G. Srinivasan, one of the founding members of Aravind was also remembered during the meeting held virtually. News about these and many more feature in this issue.
