Since 1990, the IT division of Aravind has played a crucial role in supporting Aravind Eye Hospitals’ clinical and administrative processes. Leveraging decades of expertise in using IT services in clinical work, this division began offering its services to other eye hospitals worldwide. Towards fulfilling the global need for digital healthcare solutions, data management, supporting research, and training of the health care providers, Auroitech Digital Solutions Foundation was officially established as an independent entity in August 2023.

To manage the growing patient volumes at Aravind Eye Hospitals, Auroitech gradually replaced the manual medical records with eyeNotes, an advanced Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. It is continuously refined to align with evolving clinical protocols. Now (December 2024), eyeNotes supports over 4,000 users and has handled over 23 million patient consultations, contributing to quality and efficiency in eye care delivery.

In addition to eyeNotes, Auroitech has developed applications tailored for various eye care needs to enable digital transformation. These include,

• Integrated Hospital Management Systems (IHMS): Streamlines billing and manages patient flow from registration to discharge.
• Dhrishti: a mobile app for patients to support them during hospital visits, and provide their condition specific awareness for self-care while at home.
• Optical, Pharmacy, and Stores Management System: Enhances operational efficiency in these critical support services.
• Lab Information System (LIS): Optimises lab management processes.
