Aravind Medical Research Foundation (AMRF) has opened its third Regional Research Centre at Aravind-Coimbatore, adding to the existing centres at Tirunelveli and Pondicherry. The concept of Regional Research Centres was initiated under the visionary leadership of Dr. P. Namperumalsamy, Chairman Emeritus, AECS, to encourage greater involvement of clinician-scientists in research. In honour of his contribution, the new centre has been named the Dr. P. Namperumalsamy Regional Research Centre.

The centre was inaugurated by Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Chairman & Managing Director, LMW Limited, and Dr. Lalith Devi Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Managing Trustee, GKD Charity Trust, in the presence of the senior leadership team of Aravind.
