Dr. R. Kim, CMO, Aravind-Madurai, served as a key resource person alongside renowned healthcare leaders at the National Conclave on World Retina Day, held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. The event, hosted by AbbVie, aimed to raise awareness about Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), a major cause of vision loss among people with diabetes. The conclave brought together leading experts to discuss strategies for combating retinal diseases and improving eye health outcomes in India.

Dr. Kim highlighted the transformative role of technology, speaking on “Raising awareness about diabetes-related eye complications and promoting regular eye check-ups at the community level can significantly reduce the risk of vision loss, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.”

The conclave concluded with a strong call for coordinated action. Experts stressed that with timely intervention, India can prevent millions from losing their sight to a condition that is both detectable and treatable
