Three-Day Workshop on “Extracellular Vesicles: Biology and Applications”

AMRF, 6-8 October 2025

As part of the October Summit 2025, a three-day workshop on “Extracellular Vesicles: Biology and Applications” was organised at AMRF. The workshop included hands-on training on, Isolation of EVs from plasma and commercial milk using ultracentrifugation.

EV characterisation using Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA), Protein isolation and profiling by SDS-PAGE, Marker evaluation through Western blotting, and A demonstration session was held on mass spectrometry for EV proteomic analysis.

Guest lectures were delivered by Dr. Jitendra Shandilya, Application Specialist, Beckman Coulter on flow cytometry, and Dr. Sebastian Raja, Application Specialist, Leica, on confocal microscopy. During the inaugural session, Prof. K. Dharmalingam, Director, Research, AMRF, highlighted the emerging importance of EV research in diagnostics and therapeutics. Talks were also delivered by Dr. Gowripriya, Senior Scientist, on EVs in regenerative medicine, Dr. Bharanidharan, Scientist, on EV-derived microRNAs in host–pathogen interactions, and Dr. Daipayan Banerjee, Scientist, on EVs as biomarkers in diabetic retinopathy. The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where Prof. Dharmalingam encouraged participants to pursue further research in this rapidly evolving field. The workshop brought together 16 participants, including faculty members, Ph.D. scholars, and M.Sc. students from 11 institutions across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana.
