Exploring Orbitology: Orbital Infections and Inflammation

Organised by Aravind-Pondicherry, the programme offered a day of rich academic learning and hands-on experience, blended theory and practice.
The sessions were graced by eminent keynote speakers, Dr. Usha Kim, who delivered an insightful talk on Non-Specific Orbital Inflammation: A Broad Spectrum and Its Management, and Dr. Milind N. Naik, Consultant Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeon, LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, who elaborated on Specific Orbital Inflammations: Thyroid Eye Disease Spectrum and Management.
Other engaging sessions included presentations by Dr. Kalaiselvi Rain on Anatomy of the Orbit, Dr. Sangeetha on Preseptal Cellulitis, Dr. Rajalakshmi A. R. on Orbital Cellulitis, Dr. Bhagwati Wadwekar on Complications of Orbital Infections, and Dr. Jai Kishore on Imaging in Orbital Inflammations.
An interactive Kahoot quiz added excitement to the learning experience, with Dr. Drashti, Dr. Sanjana, and Dr. Rajalakshmi securing the first, second, and third prizes, respectively.
The day concluded with a cinematic 3D experience featuring live demonstrations of orbital surgeries by Dr. Jayagayathri, Chief, Orbit, Oculoplasty & Ocular Oncology Services, and Dr. Dayakar Yadalla, Medical Consultant, Aravind-Pondicherry. The event ended with a hands-on wet lab session, providing participants with an invaluable opportunity for skill enhancement.
