Semira’s Story Featured by IAPB - A Proud Moment for Aurolab

February 2026

An inspiring patient impact story was featured by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) as part of its Vision Save Stories. This was facilitated by Aurolab’s International NGO and Promotion Team.

Eight-year-old Semira Jemal from Ethiopia, who had been living with bilateral cataracts and could only see “grey smudges,” regained her sight through a surgical outreach initiative conducted by the Cure Blindness Project at Boru Meda General Hospital. With the implantation of Aurolab’s high-quality, affordable intraocular lenses (IOLs), her vision was fully restored, enabling her to return to school with confidence and hope.
