Vision Centre Management Training
LAICO, 1-5 September 2025
LAICO conducted a Vision Centre Management Training with five participants from various states of India, aimed at enhancing the performance and sustainability of Vision Centres.
The hands-on programme equipped participants with key skills in managing Vision Centres, improving community engagement, patient follow-up, optical sales, and ensuring clinical quality. It also emphasised the use of data and software tools for informed decision-making.
The training combined classroom sessions with field visits and real-time observations at functioning Vision Centres, providing practical, actionable knowledge. Participants left with the tools to deliver more effective and sustainable eye care services in their communities.
Seminar on Ophthalmology Practice Development
Aravind-Chennai, 31st August 2025
The Chennai edition of the Seminar on Ophthalmology Practice Development was held at Aravind-Chennai, organised by LAICO at the request of Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic Association (TNOA) to provide inputs on practice development for ophthalmologists.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Sujatha Mohan, President, TNOA. Keynote addresses were delivered by R.D. Thulasiraj, Director Emeritus, LAICO, and Dr. S. Aravind, CMO, Aravind-Chennai.
Speakers for the day included Dr. Arulmozhivarman, former President, TNOA; Dr. V. Panneer Selvam, Director, Arasan Eye Hospital; Dr. R. Venkatesh, CMO, Aravind–Pondicherry; Dr. Haripriya, Chief, IOL Services, Aravind-Chennai; Dhivya Ramasamy, Executive Director, LAICO; Dr. Harinikrishna, Medical Consultant, Aravind–Tirunelveli; Dr. Madhu Uddaraju, Director, Vision Tree, Vizag; Ajanth Naveen, Director, ProVision Eye Hospital, Tenkasi; and Deepa, Central HR, AECS.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Atheek Shaik, Secretary, Madras City Ophthalmic Association (MCOA). In total, 27 practitioners attended the seminar.
