Aravind’s service to the community has continued to grow further since its inception, constantly refining its approach and enhancing care in multiple ways. Through CMEs, workshops, retreats, and insightful sessions, Aravind ensures that its staff stay updated with the latest advancements in the field, enabling them to deliver superior patient care.
This month marked a significant milestone with the first-ever CME for the Facility Coordination and Catering Team, conducted at Aravind-Madurai. The programme infused the staff with renewed enthusiasm, motivating them to serve the community with even greater dedication.
The observance of awareness days at Aravind continues to play a crucial role in preventive care, educating both the public and staff. This month, the observances of World Diabetes Day, World Prematurity Day, National Myopia Week, and Hospital Infection Control Week featured a series of events promoting awareness.
As a WHO Collaborating Centre, Aravind also had the privilege of hosting and participating in the WHO Regional Meeting on Eye Health held at Madurai. This meeting for the South East Asia region convened 56 delegates from 9 countries. This important global initiative focused on meeting the 2030 global eye health targets of effective coverage of refractive error and cataract, addressing diabetic retinopathy and integrated primary eye care. As part of this programme, delegates visited Aravind’s comprehensive outreach camp and a telemedicine-enabled vision centre.
Aravind welcomed the Jagriti Yatra team for the 10th consecutive year during their observation trip to various institutions across India. The group comprised 525 yatris from all states, representing diverse backgrounds. Their visit to Aravind offered a first-hand understanding of the organisation’s model of compassionate and sustainable eye care. Aravind takes pride in sharing its successful service model with the world, continuing its mission to eliminate needless blindness across the globe.
