Dr. Abhishek G, DNB Resident, Aravind-Coimbatore, won First Prize for the Clinical Image of the Month (November) in the imaging competition conducted by the Vitreoretinal Society of India (VRSI).

His award-winning image, titled “Retinal Tornado: The Fury of a Giant Retinal Tear,” was captured using an Optos ultra-widefield retinal imaging camera. The image depicts a giant retinal tear in which the entire temporal retina has detached and flipped over like a flap. The rolled-over retina resembles a tornado, while the exposed area beneath appears volcanic, creating a dramatic and striking visual.
