Aravind Team at the Inauguration of a New Facility at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH), Ghana

The Aravind team, including members from LAICO and Aravind-Pondicherry, played a key role in planning and setting up a new eye care facility at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Ghana, in support of the vision of Cure Blindness Project to eliminate avoidable blindness.

Dr. Krishna, Thamizh, and AOPs from Aravind were present on-site for about a month, working closely with the CCTH eye team to operationalise the facility. They also performed the first surgeries during the week following the inauguration.

Management Training for Programme Managers

LAICO, 11-24 February 2026

Bringing together 17 participants from 9 countries, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Myanmar, the Philippines, Rwanda, and Vietnam, this intensive two-week training programme organised by LAICO strengthened participants’ understanding of global eye care priorities and service delivery models. It equipped programme managers to design need-based, evidence-driven initiatives tailored to specific populations, while ensuring the development of skilled human resources.

The course also enhanced their ability to make strategic, data-informed decisions and effectively manage programme growth, enabling them to drive sustainable and impactful eye care services in their respective regions.
