Aravind-Coimbatore, 15th February 2026
The CME on Nerve Palsies, Amblyopia, and Asthenopia at Aravind-Coimbatore featured insightful sessions from three external faculty members: Dr. Jitendra Jethani from Baroda Eye Hospital, Dr. Kavitha Kalaivani from Sankara Nethralaya, and Dr. Rajesh Prabu from Sankara Eye Hospital, Coimbatore. Dr. Akila C, Medical Consultant, Paediatric Ophthalmology Services, Aravind-Chennai, Dr. Neelam Pawar, Medical Consultant, Paediatric Ophthalmology Services, Aravind-Tirunelveli, and Dr. R. Janani, Paediatric Ophthalmology Services, Aravind-Salem, along with the entire team of doctors from the Coimbatore Paediatric Department.
The morning sessions on KM Screen diagnostics, Digital Hess, Orthoptics, and Bynocs therapeutics effectively bridged traditional paediatric ophthalmology with digital tools, aligning with the hospital’s goals for innovation. The pre-lunch case discussions prompted lively interaction during the panel discussion.
The event brought together around 125 ophthalmologists and optometrists. Around 15 Aravind alumni practising paediatric ophthalmology across centres in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka attended the meeting and shared their experiences.
In the afternoon, a dry lab on manual and digital orthoptics was attended by 75 participants, while a wet lab on strabismus training using model eyes developed by Aurolab was attended by 22 participants.
