The workshop focuses on strengthening hospital-based eye care delivery to improve effective eye care coverage and achieve better visual outcomes. It will help hospitals identify gaps in the cataract and refractive error care pathways and develop practical strategies to address them in alignment with WHO’s 2030 global eye health targets.

  • To understand the WHO global targets for effective eye care coverage and their implications for eye hospitals.
  • To recognise the role of eye hospitals in achieving effective eye care coverage.
  • To identify gaps in the hospital care pathway using service delivery data and strengthen care delivery processes.
  • To develop strategies to ensure that all eligible patients receive appropriate interventions and achieve effective outcomes.
  • To develop and commit to implementing hospital-specific action plans for improving effective eye care coverage

By the end of the workshop, each participating hospital will have:

  • A clear understanding of the current gaps in the hospital’s eye care delivery processes.
  • Identification of priority interventions to improve effective eye care coverage.
  • A hospital-specific implementation roadmap with defined responsibilities and timelines.
  • A set of indicators and monitoring mechanisms to track implementation and progress towards the WHO 2030 targets
