
At LAICO, our role goes beyond managing change within our own organization. We are often called upon to mentor and guide other eye hospitals in their efforts to improve systems, strengthen processes, and expand services to reach those in need. Effective consultancy requires not only technical expertise but also the ability to listen, empathize, and adapt to each hospital’s unique context.
This workshop is designed to strengthen our consulting skills through peer learning and reflection, giving us space to share experiences, explore models, and practice strategies that make our mentoring more impactful.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Gain renewed insight into the dynamics of the consulting process.
- Explore frameworks and models that can guide effective consultancy.
- Reflect on their own consulting experiences and learn from peers.
- Develop a personal action plan to apply consulting approaches in daily practice.
- Establish a support system to sustain change and accountability.
The workshop will use a peer group learning approach, where faculty members bring real consulting challenges for reflection and group dialogue. Together, we will map these experiences onto a basic consulting framework, helping identify patterns, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
The process will include:
- Storytelling: Sharing real cases from participants’ consulting experiences.
- Facilitated Peer Dialogue: Unpacking challenges and applying frameworks.
- Skills Practice: Hands-on exercises to build confidence in applying approaches.
- Action Planning: Each participant develops a concrete plan for application.
- Support System: Agreeing on follow-up mechanisms to sustain momentum.
