Introduction

Dr. Seema Ramakrishnan graduated in medicine from the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital (Sion Hospital), Mumbai in 2003. She completed her post-graduate diploma in ophthalmology under the TN Dr. MGR Medical University from the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Egmore and Madras Medical College, Chennai in 2008 and went ahead to pursue the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) post-graduate course from Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry in 2011. She was also awarded Fellowship of International Council of Ophthalmology, London in 2011. She completed fellowship in Cornea and anterior segment microsurgery in 2013 from Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry. Since 2014, she has been working with Aravind Eye Hospital as Medical Consultant, Cornea and Refractive Surgery services.

Dr. Seema is a member of the All India Ophthalmological Society and the Tamil Nadu Ophthalmic association. Apart from her work at the Aravind Eye Hospitals, she has worked with the Ministry of Health in Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria towards elimination of cataract blindness and with Manishankar Eye Hospital at Nashik, Mahrashtra.

Dr. Seema  is a high volume cataract surgeon as well as a corneal transplant, LASIK and refractive surgeon. She has keen interest in lamellar corneal surgery (DMEK, DSEK and DALK), advanced refractive surgery and ophthalmic surgical training. She is actively involved in the training of post-graduate and fellowship students in ophthalmology as well as mid-level ophthalmic personnel.
