Dr Kavya Subramanian completed her MBBS from Government Medical College, Calicut, Kerala. She subsequently pursued an MD in ophthalmology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh.

Following the post graduation, she completed a fellowship in Glaucoma from Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli, and joined as a medical consultant in the same department.
