Aravind Medical Research Foundation (AMRF) was founded by Dr. G. Venkataswamy, and its main mission is to eliminate needless blindness by providing evidence through research and evolving methods to translate existing evidence and knowledge into effective action.
AMRF is a multidisciplinary research community and a registered society, recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Govt. of India, which conducts basic research to gain insights about vision science and commitment to finding new ways to reduce the burden of blindness.
